It all began in 1976, when they received the keys to the legendary Cipriani, a Belmond Hotel in Venice.  A year later they began collecting the carriages for the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, which launched in 1982 to whisk intrepid travellers to La Serenissima in style.
 
For over 40 years Belmond has followed their pioneering spirit and passion for authenticity to create and uncover some of the world’s greatest travel adventures.  Belmond is the glamour of Rio’s Copacabana Palace and champagne in the art deco carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express train.  It is dawn beside the temples of Cambodia’s Angkor Wat and sunset over Botswana’s Okavango Delta.  It is an evening of authentic regional dining, followed by a dramatic rail journey to the gateway of Machu Picchu.
